2007/2008 Season

Li’l Abner

Playwright: Norman Panama and Melvin Frank

Al Capp’s world famous characters have been placed in an upbeat musical extravaganza.  Li’l Abner is a satisfying mixture of hillbilly nonsense and sharp, critical humor that appeals to the sophisticated theatergoer as well as the child within us all.  The curtain opens on “A Typical Day” in Dogpatch, U.S.A. where the motley and lovable characters who inhabit this burg spend their leisure time drinking Kickapoo Joy Juice, fishing, and attending the popular Sadie Hawkins Day Dance.  What starts out as a calm day is quickly interrupted when a “Cornpone Meetin” is called in town square by Senator Jack S. Phoggbound.  This can mean one of two things-either an event of national importance has occurred, or there’s to be “a hideous change in the Dogpatch way of life.”  Can the motley citizens of Dogpatch devise a plan that will save their town?

And Then There Were None

Playwright: Agatha Christie

A superlative mystery comedy (originally titled Ten Little Indians) takes place when eight guests who have never met one another or their apparently absent host and hostess are lured to the island and, along with the two house servants, marooned. A mysterious voice sets out to accuse each one of being a murderer and then one of them drops dead … poisoned. One down, nine to go! The excitement never lets up!
